Computex 2014: Thermaltake Core V1, a Windowed mini-ITX for $50

Speeding by the Thermaltake booth at Computex and our contact showed us the new Core V1, an exciting mini-ITX case where the top, sides and bottom of the case are interchangeable. The case comes with one windowed panel and three vented panels, but users should be able to purchase more windowed panels to make their rig see though, or replacing panels becomes easy and cheap. The front panel of the case is easy to remove, and features a 200mm fan.
The case is also large enough for two 120mm fans on the rear, and due to the nature of the design, the space for a GPU extends into the front of the case for longer graphics cards. It also supports ATX PSUs and it can even be made to house a water cooling loop:
It will not fit their new 540 radiator (3x180mm) though:
The Core V1 has space for two side-mounted 3.5” or 2.5” drives, but with adaptors it will fit four 2.5” drives. The Core V1 should be available within a matter of weeks.

Honestly, I really wish we would see more fan mounts on the sides of cases. Case companies, let me pump that sweet, fresh, cool(er) air directly onto my GPU! Oh, and designing it for a filter (or at least using a magnetic metal so I could use an aftermarket magnetic filter) would be fantastic.Iketh - Saturday, June 7, 2014 - link
I'm the complete opposite. I can't stand cases with side fan mounts. They are retarded. Dusty, noisy especially when vibrating the whole door, and unnecessary when the front intake fan can blow on the GPU if not obstructed.rauelius - Friday, June 6, 2014 - link

Love that price! I'm tired of seeing nice-looking designs for a mini-ITX and then get hit with sticker shock (Lian-Li, I'm looking at you!).I have a novel idea for any case maker - create heat pipes on a side w/radiator fins that can be connected to a GPU. Sure, you'll need to make a proof-of-concept, but if it worked, it would be so nice not to have the noise of GPU fan(s) in a gaming system. The side of a case could give a lot more surface area to passively radiate the heat away. A large front case fan can used as the system's cooling input.
I suppose a closed-loop liquid cooler would also work, but those are hard to find and seem to cost quite a bit when available, if you can even find one that can be attached to a GPU.

Ian,The fans on the back look smaller than 120mm, look like they might be 92mm or even 80mm.
Really looking forward to this case I have a choice to make between this and the node 304 for me in the next few weeks.

Same time frame for me, though between the Node and BitFenix's offerings. A decent $30 AUD price difference...but am still caught up on whether to get a case that allows an optical drive. Decisions.
