NEETs are going to love the job simulator

The euro price seems fine in comparison to the US. EU prices generally always include sales tax, which at 20% would come in at 880€ when added to the converted US price.

    Still mighty expensive, though.

Not all that expensive. At $880, it cost less than the eMagin HMD I bought a decade ago, and is much more capable. I placed my pre-order this morning.

If 899 Euro is the w/ VAT price then without VAT it would be 749.17 Euro which is $814.61 as of right now. Depending on shipping costs, I may just wait till it hits Saturn or any of the other retailers and get it using a VAT form.

Someone forgot to tell then that Australia and New Zealand don't use US dollars.

Seems that someone's eyes are not translating the digital ink so good. An extra 100 USD just for the privilege of being an Australian? I mean, I can appreciate that they wish that they were Aussies too... But how do they justify their rapage of the poor Kiwis... No one wants to be a Kiwi, do they? I mean, really?

So, everyone buy yours through a US proxy. Regional pricing, my ass... Time for this BS to go the way of the Dodo.

Do you see that little asterisk there next to the US price? It even has an explanation. Let me speed up the process: the US price is "without tax pricing". All others presumably include taxes.

Wow, it's hard to believe how weak the Canadian dollar has become. It was parity (or close to it) such a short time ago. While $799 sounded expensive, $1149 is outrageous for something that comes with a job simulator and MS paint.

    Definitely waiting this one out.

I know I'm not paying $1300 (after tax) for one that's for sure.
  • bug77 - Monday, February 29, 2016 - link

Actually, I think the CAD was pretty stable. It was the USD that has been devalued for a while.
  • extide - Monday, February 29, 2016 - link

If that was the case then it would take LESS canadian dollars. The USD has gained strength relative to the canadian dollar.
  • sabrewings - Monday, February 29, 2016 - link

What he's saying is that for many years the USD was devalued. The USD has since gained strength and returned to its former self, making it appear the CAD has dropped. Since a lot of companies set their pricing in USD, it has the effect to other economies that their currency has dropped when it's not quite that simple.

Wow $49 sales tax in kentucky.. Didnt even know HTC had a office here in kentucky.. That pushed my price up to $900 counting shipping
  • mrvco - Monday, February 29, 2016 - link

How long do I have to play Job Simulator to earn $799? And does Fantastic Contraception support multi-player?
  • JeffFlanagan - Monday, February 29, 2016 - link

    Just a week, but it'll be a simulated $799.
  • nerd1 - Sunday, March 6, 2016 - link

WHY is it this expensive? All it has is a single OLED panel, inertial sensors and a camera.

OLED panels are now dirt cheap (8" galaxy tab s2 is around $250-300 for WHOLE DEVICE) and memes inertial sensors cost almost nothing. Camera may cost $5. So the whole device should be $300-400 range.
  • keeepcool - Monday, March 7, 2016 - link

Can the galaxy tab display work at 90Hz refresh rate?
There is a LOT of software/firmware, there is the controllers, the laser projectors and inherent tracking, if you think it can be done with a 400$ final price, go for it and be millionaire.
