12:54PM EDT - The fall season is approaching yet again, and it’s time again for another round of iPhone updates, representing Apple’s newest 2019 mobile hardware. The event should be starting at 10am PT, and the show again takes place on the Apple Park campus in the Steve Jobs theatre. This year we’re expecting a new refresh of last year’s iPhone XS, XS Max and XR models. We’re still not quite sure what Apple is going to be calling the new phones, but if the numerous leaks prove to be true, we’ll be seeing incremental design updates with a new in-vogue triple-camera setup as being the key new features of the phones, as well as naturally Apple introducing new internal hardware such as the new Apple A13 SoC, which might bring some surprises to the table this year.

    64GB phone fro $1099 in 2019 !!!!!!
  • Alistair - Tuesday, September 10, 2019 - link

Here's an example of Apple's customer service: Their website says to me:

    "Cannot reset security questions
We do not have sufficient information to reset your security questions."

Contact Apple: 4 days later, 3 contacts with 2 different people: we can't help you, try logging in from a trusted location. Me: "I changed my internet provider and router, I can't do that".

Can you think of a single company on the planet that uses two step authentication, where you have your account and password, but can't get past the security questions, and they just say "delete the account and start over?"

Send me an email to the appleid account, and let me reset them. There are over 12,000 people on Apple support who clicked "I have this problem too" and they don't care. I told Apple my account was hacked, as my name was changed and the address changed to "countryside lane, UK", and they said "your account wasn't hacked" and I said, yeah, I live in the U.K. now, NOT. The address isn't even deliverable. Clearly I can't answer the security questions because they were previously changed by the hacker, as I know "where my parents met" etc.

You lose all your purchases, which obviously weren't worth a penny. I won't buy anything from the Apple store, that's for sure.

What's the point in having a "I forgot my security questions" section, when it is broken and won't reset them? This problem has been happening for more than 3 years, and they are just abandoning their users and all their purchases. I shouldn't have to make ANOTHER email account and lose everything and start over, just to continue using an iPhone. Ridiculous.

Ugh, I lost an account I haven't been using for a while, it was a relatively rare case and customer services kicked me around like a ball.
  • prophet001 - Tuesday, September 10, 2019 - link

This is just a straight up cult at this point.

Thanks Andrei! The iPhone pro is undoubtedly a very capable phone, and I'm sure it's cameras take good pictures and great video. I also really like the switch to stainless steel - finally. Either this or titanium, aluminum just scratches too easily. However, those prices - ouch! $ 1,100 for 64 GB storage, and, this being Apple, of course no micro SD slot, means that anyone who wants to actually use these for photos and videos has to spend the extra $$$ to have at least 128 GB, and you really want 256 GB or more for 4K video shoots. I guess I will have to stick with Android yet again.

Apple makes over 70% profit on an upgrade in storage, sucker the consumer in with a low storage cheap option then upsell at a huge profit.
  • eastcoast_pete - Tuesday, September 10, 2019 - link

Forgot to ask: so, where does Apple intend to sell all those iPhones they are accepting as trade-ins? Must be quite a number of those.
  • willis936 - Tuesday, September 10, 2019 - link

Taking working phones out of the pool adds a lot of value to them. It’s a solution to the “nobody is buying new phones” problem. Their profit margin is still massive. They just need to make the sale no matter the cost. I would feel dirty on the inside for buying a phone more often than every three years at this point.
  • Oyeve - Tuesday, September 10, 2019 - link

I don't know. I update my Galaxy phones twice a year, first with the S series them the Note series. I send in the priors to Samsung to get a few hundred off the new ones. I have no idea what they do with the traded in ones. I may hold off for a couple of years as the Note 10+ is really good that I can't see it getting much better. Then again I say this every six months. I need help.
