what about his clam that sunny cove is a new architeCture ?? when all intel did was add/update parts of it ? wouldnt it be better to call it sandy bridge 7 ??
These (single core?) boost clocks are kind of disappointing. I expected at least 4.8 GHz single core turbo clocks, though the new XFR will surely allow that provided the cooling is adequate. I also wonder why there is such a huge TDP difference between the 3700X and 3800X. The difference in clock speeds are not high enough to justify a +45W TDP for the 3800X. Does that mean the 3800X can sustain the turbo frequency longer?
Turbo frequency has little to no correlation with TDP, max turbo is for one core and the TDP is going to be reached running all cores at the base clock. And the base is 300Mhz higher which I absolutely believe would increase power draw by 50%, it is simply going way past the efficiency sweet spot of the chip. Very much in line with my experience overclocking the current Ryzen chips.

yep.. been looking forward to seeing how he would try to make intel look good vs zen 2...Xyler94 - Tuesday, May 28, 2019 - link
considering his claims of 1 Sunnycove core = 2 Zen2 cores...Korguz - Tuesday, May 28, 2019 - link

With a naming of 3900X I am guessing they are dropping the whole threadripper line which to date has had the X9XX numbering scheme.just4U - Monday, May 27, 2019 - link
I doubt they'll be dropping it... Their popular even if in limited supply. The 9 is just a way of showing what it's competing against. Intel's i9.PixyMisa - Monday, May 27, 2019 - link
Lisa Su said specifically that Threadripper will continue. They might need to go to hexadecimal though.Santoval - Monday, May 27, 2019 - link
